lency the Governor to enquire what steps should be taken to afford relief to the sufferers by the Bokhara disaster have decided to invite subscriptions to a General Fund to be appor- iloned in the discretion of the General Commit-- see among the following objects
(a) The relief of those dependent for support upon residents in Hongkong who lost their lives in the shipwreck.
(B) The erection of a suitable memorial of the catastrophe.
(c) The ecognition of services rendered to the survivors.
The Subscription Lists will be closed on the 30th November next.

DIRECTIONS.
With the buoys in the positions above described, the best track for vessels to follow when using the South Channel is to pass 3 cabies eastward of the Magpie Rock Buoy and then steer to pass the Hainan. Head Bank Buoy at about the same distance, taking care to guard against being set towards the shore, and remembering that it is safe to borrow towards the banks on the starboard hand, of which the lead, which should be kept going, will give waming while on the other side the bottom is rocky and uneven and the lead given no warn- Ing. The Hainan Reef Buoy may be rounded
