THE RIOTS IN FOHKIEN.. The latest news we have from Tek-hua is that the General commanding the Imperial forces has issued a proclamation, vegfog, the people to go on with their business as usual, a1 must not be alarmed at the continued presence of his troops; that they are only being kept there, pending the capture of the rebel chief; further, that If any of the soldiery should cause the slightest trouble, he requests that he may be at once informed of it, and be will tike care that the offenders are severely punished. The publication of such a proclamation would fedicate that the General considers the troubles at an end, and, no doubt, virtually, they are so, but it is evident that the people are not of the same opinion, as they decline, as yet, to open their shops, and those who fled have not yet returned.

The following is the finding of the Court of Inquiry held at Shangbal, delivered on November 26th :-

The hang was a stram vessel of 1983 tons registered tonnage, official number 68 475, built at Glasgow in 1873 and belonging to the port of London. It appears from the evidence given before the Court, that she called from Shanghal on or about the 7th November, 1891, bound for Ningpo with general cargo and a crew of 45 Bands, all told, as well as 243 passengers, Nothing of importance bappened during the voyage to the time of the ship striking on the rocks, as it was a run upon which the ship was constantly employed. The Ichang was lost on the "Nemesls" rock at the entrance to the Ningpo river, owing to a wrong course having been steered by John Cruikshank Foster, master of the skip.
