Mr. Whitehead moved the reduction of the vola by ra,coo. In the Secretary of State's despatch of 5th August be stated that the main objection to the vote appeared to be that the Colony had bean deceived. This appeared to have arisen from miscomprehension of a despatch of his, of 7th March. He trusted that the present despatch would remove an idea of any breach of faith. The boy, member and he had persised the despatch of the 7h March carefully, and he was quite unable to follow Lord Knutsford in his struments, Lord Knutsford appeared to have fought for the Colony for a considerable time, but had evidently surcombed to the superior strength of the War Office or some Government official at home. He thought the Colony had not been fairly dealt with by any means. We had been grievously deceived into soling the mener in 1890 and had received the most arbitrary treatment at the hands of the Imperial reduced by £10,000,

Mr. E. ROBINSON ON "GOATS," The hearing of the trade mark case was then continued. Mr. Robinson, for the defence; claimed that the German cotton, with the stag's head trade mark, was not simply an imitation of Brook's cotton and the goat's head, but was a well its own. It was of cheaper manufacture than the ather, and quite as good, and so was pre-ing out additional men, and that be recently ferred to the Huddersfield cotton. Hence the plaintiffs, from trade motives, wished to put down head cotton In preference to the gost, not lo successful rival, People bought the stage mistake, nor because they could not tell a goat from a stag.
