They are spring griffins been sent down from Hankow by that good old and were bought on trials. They are powed sport "Posh." New Year ran in the Hankow principally on the Steawei Road, and when seen spring meeting, his best performance being on the course are never thorougly extended second in the Derby, one mile and a haif, in They are likely looking anima's and being high-3-16. Was third in the Maidens and Racing Stakes. Is reported to have done a wonderful priced rasy be worth something,
trial up river for Leger distance. Is not looking at all well. Moves in beautiful style.
Mr. Inch's White Heather, 15 1, 10.7, is a spring pony with beautiful action. He ran four times last meeting and did not get placed, but was much too fat and should have been kept over. is in batter condition at present, but has not the stuff Leger winners are made of ... Mr. Alexander's Belmont, 133, 10.7-A kept, over griffin, and bought on a trial just before the entries, his time being 3.59 for the Leger distance with 10.7 up. However this was on the mud course, nich when fast is notoriously seconds quicker than the grass course on which he will have to perform a race days. He is Asby-looking, rather leggy bay, and not quite .firs: class.
Mr. Boxey's Royalty, 131, 10.12, started second favourite in the Hongkong Derby, and although running a game poay all through waS not"in it "arthe finish with Ardent, who romped home two lengths in front of him. He had been very highly tried before he was sent down from this, and was considered a "moral" by the stable. Is favourite for the Leger at present, and as he to be ridden by Mr. Reynell is sure to be well up. He ran third in the Exchange Plate, one mile and three-quarters, being beaten by Zephyr and the stable companion Arabic, Ren second in the Challenge Cup, same distance, beating Home Guard, Zephyr winning In the fast time of 3 461. From this it will be seen that he has been a very consistent runner. for long racer, which seems to justify his position of favourlie.
Mr. Buxey's Crown Diamond, 13.2, 10.12, was sent out in the Hongkong Derby to make the running, which he did for three-quarters of a mile in 1.344. quickly collapsing and golog to the rear. Ran second in the Scary Stakes one mile, and third in the Parsee Cup, reven Turlongo, and was then kept for the Consolation, which he won very easily, beating Susewind in 1.54. the distance being a little over seven fare langs. Is most probably entered to make the running again.
Mr. Jack's Determination, 13.0, 10.7, possesses great speed and can stay as well, but he is a bighly nervous pony, and has exhibited too. much temper to have much reliance' placed on him. However, his record last meeting was fairly good, being three starts and placed each ilme: third in the Cesarewitch Staker, one mile, second the Derby, one mile and a half, and second in the Sans Soucl, but carrying only 10.7 Inthe last named. Ja decidedly dangerous if he zuns kindly.
Mr. Falk's Boreas, 13.3, 10.7, is an autumn griffin and one of the very few good ones brought down lately. Has done some really good gallops and is favourlite for the Maidens. Has done a mile and a quarter is 2.47, last quarter 3 seconda, carrying nearly fall weigt. Ought to havé good look-in with 10.7 on his back.
Mr. Oswald's Craigcrook, 137, 107, started twice in the spring, but was not placed. In being trained chlefly on the road and is reported to have done excellent time. Will be ridden by his
Mr. Harvey's Patience, 13.0, 10.7, is a "dark horse" and supposed to be very fast.. Is a very pretty mover, and being ridden by his experienced owner may have a look-in.
Mr. Hempton's Comas, 13.1, 11.3. ran in four races last meeting, winning the Concordia Cup. a mile and a ball, in 3.17, and the Sans Souci Cap,'a mile and a quarter, In 2.52 2.5. beating Determination carrying only 107. Was second in the Cathay Cup, receiving 7lbs, allowance as a griffin, and unplaced in the Champlona. With a strong rider will be very hard to beat, as be Is very game.-N. C. Daily News.
