MR. Hotta Züisho, the inventor of the lacquer paint for ships' botones, as well as a process for preventing the adherence of shells and weeds. thereto, both of which were duly patented by bim bas, according to the Nicks Nicki Shimbun, made a very successful experiment. In order to test the respective merits of the two, he some time since painted each side of, an iron plate with the above compositions, the plate was recently hauled up for Inspection, when it was found that one side was covered with shells and weeds, while the other half painted with the composition preventing the adherence of barnacles, etc, was found to be perfectly clear, and, as a matter of fact, brighter than when put 00. This reaching the ears of Count Matsulcata and Viscount Shinagawa, the plats experimented upon was taken to the Cabinet and whewn to the Emperor.
