A TELEGRAM Was received at Shanghal last Saturday morning from Ningpo stating that the British barque Sea Swallow had been dis masted north of Chiosas, and asking for a log boat to be sent. The Alcoins Savd was denpatched to look for the disabled vessel and bilag her hack to Shanghai. The Sea Swallow only cently came out of Tongkadoo Dock where she had been thoroughly overhauled. She left Shanghal on the 29th August for Amoy. THE pack of tow hirelings and toadies at the Jockey Club meeting held at the City Hall this aftemoon, succeeded, mainly by the help of that emtrent "ratter" Jno, J. Francis, Esq., Q.C., in preventing an inecent man whose reputation had been assailed in the most cowardly manner, from defending himself. They will have some trouble, even with Francis, QC, thrown lo, to stop the pen of the Editor of the Hongkang Telegraph from giving the truth of this most shameless business to the world.

William Schairer recalled, sald-I saw the deceased drop into the sea; I told the 2nd mate I then went into the forecastle. When I said that deceased was hanging on to the sheet, and "The Swede was banging there" the 2nd mate said that fellow is crazy." I waited until he disappeared and told the 2nd officer that he had let go, but I received no reply.

September 4th. ' From the news to hand by telegraph to-day, it appears the Ichang riot must have been a nearly all there were only the bricks remain, "most" serious one.
