THE WEER'S SHARE BUSINESS.

Hongkong, August 2and, During the weak things on the Rialto have been decidedly brisk although prices ruled low. The result was that some very big transactions were put through; buyers taking advantage of the drop to purchase largely,

Banks-Have slightly weakened and a good many sales have been made, at 200 per cent for the 25th instant, 203 por cent for the 25th September, and 205 per cent for the 25th October; Market dlosing stendy at these rates. Some large sales of ex New Issua have been reported at 173 per cent for cash.

Nationals (ordinary) were again done at 70 per cent discount and Founders at 8170 per share. Further sharos of both klods are still wanted.

Bank of China, Japan and the Straits Owing to some demand from the North, and the scarcity of cash shares rates have advanced to $16, at which rate they closed with buyers. Founders are nominally quated at £145

Docks Have remained at 98 per cent to 99 per cent all through the week and some settlement shares have been done at 99 per cent. However, the market looks unsteady owing to the approaching settle

ment.

Marines Cantons have been done at 8110, and additional shares are wanted at this rate. Traders continue neglected at 866) and North Chinas at Tis. 255.

Fires--Chinas have been placed at 886- per share and are now wanted at 661, Hongkongs continue in demand at $317.

Shipping-Large numbers of Steath- boats have been purchased for the North at 33 for cash and 34 for the 25th of October: More shares are wanted at these rates but holders are asking for better rates arid from the tone of the market, It seems they are likely to get them. Other stocks under this heading are neglected at present at appended quotations.

Sugar Refineries-Chinas have been dealt in at $181 per, share and are now freely offered at 8180, Luzons dropped. from 76 to 70 per share and after some sales having been put through at the last rate, they again fell to St and large numbers of shares have been sold at the Intermediate rates. They are now in demand at the last rate.

Watsons have been done at 819) and are now wanted st 820 per share.

Mining-Punjoms were done at 831 and are now wanted at 37, Raubs were done at 75 cents and more could be placed at this rate. Imuris have again been largely done at 88 per share, most of them having been bought for the North. But at pre- sent nothing better than 871 can be got for them. Charbonnages also have weakened and can be bought at $400 per share, Selamat were done at 50 and 55. cents per share and are now offering at so cents. Jelebus were done at 834 per share and are now in strong demand at 84 per share,

Miscellaneous-Ices are offering at $86 ex. dividend. Röpes are wanted at gro per share but none are procurable under 8113 Wharf shares continue in demand at 879, but nothing has been done in them during the week. Lands changed hands at 877 and there are some more shares on the market at this figure. West Point Buildings were done at 8a8 per share and more can be had at this rate,
