Messrs. Jurado and Co. forwarded the follow- ing letter to the Z. & C. Express of the 10th ult-the same date on which we published a letter from the Manila branch of the firm on the same subject. The last paragraph but two is a little discounted by subsequent events. They sayOur attention has been drawn to a para- graph in your issue of the 5th inst, containing statements, which we cannot pass unnoticed, concerning the litigation between the Hongkong. and Shanghal Banking Corporation and Messrs. Jurado and Co, of Manila, in which firm we are Interested.

The Banking Corporation Instituted legal proceedings against Jurado and Co. In the Court of First Instance In Manila in the year 1894. and they thus, of their own free will, selected that tribunal and the law administered by it, which was to he applied to the case.

When the Banking Corporation were ordered to pay the said $318,coa into Court and were forced to do so by a levy on their property, and the sum was lodged at the Treasury of Manila, Deposit Department, they applied to the British Government for protection; but we also asked the Marquis of Salisbury not to interfere in a matter of litigation beween private parties, and we then received a reply which we considered satisfactory,
