The Schooner MONTIARA, length 75 feet, Beam 18 feet, depth of hold i feet, registered. tonnage 75 tons. (Owing to recent alterations the carrying capacity of the Montlara has been increased to about 120-tons, dead weight.)
The Montlara was built in Singapore, and is most solidly constructed of teak throughout, with iron-wood frames. She has recently been thoroughly overhauled under experienced Euro- pean superintendence, and is fastened through- out with inch galvanized slices, and newly re coppered. She is lorcha-rigged with the best canvas sails, draft of water 7 feet.
