WHILST the CP. steamer Batavia was on her way down from Shanghai to this port on her last trip the collided with, and capsized, a junk, which had three men on board, one of whom was drowned. It is said he was the look-out man, and noticing the steamer approaching, he stood up and attempted to push her off with a view to prevent the junk from damage, but unfortunately be was knocked over board; the other two men however, were rescued.
