THE MILITARY (EXTRA) CÔNTRIBUTION, The Acting Colonial Secretary reported that the Colony's military contribution for the year 1990, amounting to $123,870.69, was voted at the last meeting of the Finance Committen by a majority of ene, afterconsiderable discussion. The majority of one was obtained by the Chairman exercising his right of giving a casting vote.

Mr. P. Ryrie sald the unofficial members wanted the vote postponed. They agreed to the increase of the contribution last year on the understanding that the garrison would be largely lncreased in accordance with the Secretary of State's despatch. As yet there had been no in. crease, yet the colony was requested to pay it, The hon. members should be fully informed on the subject, and he therefore begged to move the postpanement of the final vote on the subject.

Mr. Chater then explained that the postpone. ment was asked for in order that the unofficials could confer together and draw up, if necessary, a protest.
