BOLAND arrived at Johore, and in the garb of old Gaul nightly enlivened the Sultan's dinner proceedings according to ancient custom. Before last St. Andrew's Eve the Sultan's piper was chartered for a special excursion to Selangor to perform at the St. Andrew's Ball, and he went there and was so well pleased with the place that ho accepted a position under the Govern- ment in the Kuala Lumpor Hospital. After some time, and for reasons not stated, Dr. SINCLAIR, who was in charge of the Hospital, suspended BOLAND from duty--and now the business becomes exciting.

It seems that a lady, Miss SAVORY, who was a governess in Dr. SINCLAIR's house, had died suddenly-it was alleged from an overdose of chloral; and it was in connection with this lady's death that BOLAND got himself within the dangerous and uncertain meshes of the law. The young piper, so it is stated, a day or two after the death of the governess, made a voluntary declaration before the Resident of 1.00 Selangor to the effect that, when outside Dr. SINCLAIR's house one night, he heard a woman's voice, which he recognised to be that of Miss SAVORY, forbidding some person from entering har bed-room and 1.50 asking how that person dared to take such a liberty, BOLAND alleged that the voice which replied to Misa Savory was the voice of Dr. SINCLAIR, the insinuation, of $4.50 course, being that the Doctor had been 500 guilty of serious impropriety. Dr. SINCLAIR prosecuted the lad before the Selangor 13.00 Court on a charge of making a false accusation, and the case was heard before Mr. WELLAND, chief magistrate, and a jury. $1.10 BOLAND, in his defence, made the same statement in court that he had previously *.35

Mr. Kurata Tsuji- muta, judge of the Fukuye Court, Goto, was arrested and brought to Nagasaki a few days ago, under very peculiar circumstances, which are, briefly, as follows-Isao Walg. nabe, eldest son of a Shimabara skizoku, was a clerk in the Mitsul Bussan Kaisht at Nagasaki some ten or twelve years ago, when be embezzled about $400 from his ́employers, for which he was tried, convicted, and sentenced to penal servitude for life.
