GLASdow, November 8th;
Much excliement has been created in shipping circles in England and Scotland by a cable dis- patch from Quebec stating, that the Canadian Government had decided to subsidize new liners which will make the run from Halifax to Liver poo! In less than five days, and that contracts for building the new ocean greyhounds have already been given out in Glasgow.
The results of their operations are told with eloquence in the fact, that in the memory of men still living-that is to say, since 1845- 3.200,000 of the population have been evicted from the homes which they or their fathers built from farms in which they alone had ever invested one shilling of capital for improvements. The remainder of the governing caste consists of a clique of foreign officials grouped together under the generic name of Dublin Castle," who, between them, divide salaries to the extent of above $5,000,000 per annum.
