The favorite at once took the lead and made running two lengths in front of Neophyte for the first half-mile, the other following close together. Passing the Stand Mr. Sasicon drove Neophyte alongside the favorite and the pair ran neck and neck to the mile starting post, where the latter, having performed his mission, dropped away and gradually became last. All along the back stretch. Hero was hotly pursued by Nero, Autocrat and Vagrant, and at the Mosament the last named bad got within a lenth of the lavin cible skewbald. Entering the straight Mr. Dallas bad to sit down and ride the favorite, who gamely responded and at once drawing ahead, bad the race in hand half-way down and won easily by a couple of lengths from Vagrant; Autocrat was a moderate third, Nero fourth, and Neophyte a long way last. Mr. Inch's grey maintained his advantage until passing the Monument where he died away to nothing, leaving the issue to be fought out by Vagrant, Elegant and Wild Mint. Vagrant led until à distance from the winning post and appeared to have the race in hand, but 'Mr. Meyerink brought up Elegant with a well-timed rush and got the best of an interesting struggle by half a length; Wild Mint was a good third. To a good start Earlstous made play from Millionaire, Wild Mint lying third, with the remainder in close order, and no material changes in these posi- tions occurred for the first half of the journey. Six furlongs from home the favorite improved his position, and at the half-mile post had drawa clear, his nearest attendants being Wild Mint, who was pulling double, and Vengeance. Meanwhile Autocrat and Perseverance were racing home locked together, closely hunted by Tiimouse, and when once in the straight Bramble came with a rush and rapidly made up his lost ground.
