A letter from Persia gives the details of the murder of Mrs. John M. Wright, an American Presbyterian missionary at Salmat, Western Per sin, in April. A native school-teacher killed her with a dagger in revenge for being discharged from her employ. Mrs. Wright was beautiful and accomplished. She had been married about four years.

The War Office has ordered an inquiry into the blunders committed during the summer maneuvers at Aldershot, last Friday. It seems that a disgraceful collision took place between the Lancers and Hussars on the Fax hills.

A troup of the Eleventh Hussars tried to cover battery of artillery which was being charged by a regiment of Lancers. The latter crashed | Into the Hussars. Forty men and horses were fung together in a struggling heap to the ground, and many of them were severely wounded.

General Wood publicly censured the com. marider of the Hussare. for pitting a mere hand- ful of men against s whole regiment of Lancers, at full galop."
