made up my mind to account for a few if they tried to come below, and then the captain faced them, and ordered them off bls ship in the name of the Queen. Two men with four big six. shooters have an immense moral influence over a gang of darkies, and they gradually backed ashore, and the ship started ia hurry. I did not show my nose till we were in blue water. It was the nearest call I ever got, and I took no stock in hairy fmilies since Our next move was to Calcatia, and for nearly four months we did splendid business. Then we did all India, visiting Allahabad, Agra, Delhi, Lucknow. Cawnpore, Jubalpore.Bombay (where we had another big season), Poonab, Hyde-

went to Colombo in Ceylon, where WC visited the king's palace" at ́ Candy, and saw Bhudda's tooth. From Colombo we took a sailing vessel, and were 34 days reaching Port Louis, in the Mauritius, and there we played six weeks, and then went by our sailing ship once more, touching Tamative, in Madagascar,
and on to Natal. In Africa we did all the coart
towns, and as far inland as Kimberley Diamond Fields, then in their glory, and Praetoria, the capital of the Transvaal. We went back to the Cape, where, on the Monday following the Saturday on which we closed our season, poor Sally de Angelis, our prima donna, one of the sweetest, best, most virtuous, and clever little woman who ever appeared on a stage, committed suicide over trouble with her husband. She took a big gun, placed the muzzle to her heart, cut her loose and went straight to Henven if ever a good, deserving soul did. During the four month's season there I went to England and New York, and came back with 900 worth of new music, properties, &c. An epidemic of small-pox set in, and, just dodging quarantine, we sailed in a steamer called the
Campbell for Mauritius. We arrived there only to be ship wrecked in a gale, losing every thing. We were landed in life-boats on a fit island without a rag but what we stood up in, and those wet through. I tell you we were the ordinariest looking overa company, that ever inded a country, That wreck cost me 25.000 dollars, and made me a tramp again. We had to stay there three months, as it was the time of the year when there is no shipping traffic, and then we got a chance on board a steamer bound to Point de Galle for orders. We got there, and then the steamer got orders that did not suit us and we were stranded at Point de Galle fora week. They couldn't lick us, however, and we showed every-night in the military barracks, making more than ex's and having a grand time as well. A P. and O. boat took us to Colombo at the end of that time, and thence we went once more to Bombay, where we played the winter season, and did India all through again. Back to Burmab, and there I and my partner dissolved partnership, and 1 went to Calcutta and took the principal theatre there I extended my ventures, and controlled after a while all the leading theatres in India for

FOR
CONSTIPATION, SLUGGISH LIVER, &c.,
Unlike many kinds of cathartic medi cines, do not make you feel worse before you feel better. Their operation is gentle, but thorough, and unattonded with dis- agreeable effects, such as nausea, griping pains, &e.
SEIDEL'S OPERATING PILLS are the best family physic that has ever been discovered. They cleanse the bowels from all irritating substances, and leave them in a healthy condition..
The best remedy extant for the bane of our lives-constipation and sluggish
liver.
These Pills prevent fevers and all kinds of sickness, by removing all poisonous matter from the bowels. They operate briskly, yet mildly, without any pain.
If you take a severe cold, and are threatened with a fever, with pains in the head, back, and limbs, one or two doses of SE10Bt's OPERATING PILLS will break up the cold and prevent the fever.
A coated tongue, with a brackish taste, is oaused by foul, matter in the stomach. A few doses of SEIGEL'S OPERATING PILLS will cleanse the stomach, remove the bad taste, and restore the appetite, and with it bring good health.
Oftentimes disease, or partially decayed four years, during which time I had lots of well-food, causes sickness, nausea and diar known Australião companies there, among others Emilie Melville and the Pollards. Wind rhen. If the bowels are cleansed from ing up there I went back to America, and have this impurity with a dose of SEIGEL'S had two circuses on the road since. Meeting OPERATING PILLS, these disagreeable effects will vanish, and good health will result.
professor Van Tassell, the greatest bal-. loonist, and parachutiti on earth, I saw a big thing in A tour of the world with him and his partner, Joseph Lawrence, billed na J. L. Van Tassell, and here we are, at least all that is lett of us, for, sorrowfully be i said, young Lawrence fell into the sea doing a jump at Honolulu, and was eaten by sharks, We started out to tour. the world, and if sharks
don't eat us all we'll do it. Professor Van Tassell jumped 15,000 feet at Salt Lake City, being clean out of sight, and his
balloon but a speck when he cut loose. At Santiago the municipality offered him 2000 dol. to jump at an altitude of 10,000ft. They sent him up with a sealed barometer to tell his altitude, and he carried an open one to guide himself by. He got to 85ooft, and then the air got so rarified that he could not get her any higher: she just stuck. Was he beat ? Not any. He just climed up out of his ring, secured himself in the netting, and cut away all his lower gear. Then he shot up to 15,000ft and came down lovely, with his hand out for the 2000 do). The San Francisco Examiner people showed immense enterprise recently, for they engaged Van Tassell, found the balloon and every requisite, and paid him tooodol a jump to up in the "Examiner" balloon and drop on his parachute. It was a biz enterprise, and repaid them well, and to-day the Examiner
SEIGEL'S OPERATING PILLS prevent ill- effects from excess in eating or drinking. A good dose at bedtime renders a person fit for business in the morning.
These Pills, baing Sugar-coated, are pleasant to take. The disagreeable taste common to most pills is obviated.
