About one o'clock any afternoon, the steamship passenger passing by sees the verandah and hall of the Hongkong Club crowded with a busy talking throng, and at the same hour he sees no signs of life whatever in the Singapore Club, sve an occasional man entering or leaving. Naturally he associates the Hongkong Club, with life and the Singapore Club with sleepy silence. As a matter of fact, the Singapore Club-house is at that moment as full, or fuller, than its sister building in Hongkong; and if the Singapore Club-men would agree to spend ten minutes gossiping in the entrance-ball, the effect would be equally impressive to the passing steamship passenger. But we lack public-spirit in Singa- pore, and so the steamship-passenger must remain unimpressed.

Scorr's Emulsion of Pure Cod Liver Oil with Hypophosphites, for Rickets, Marasmus und áll wasting disorders of children, is very remarkable. in its results. The rapidity with which children gain flesh and strength upon it is very wonderful, Read the following: "I have tried. Scott's Emulsion' in cases of wasting in young children, and I am of opinion that it is a valuable prepara.

tion for such cases. The children take it and

ask for more, and the good effects are apparent. I consider it far superior to ordinary Cod Liver OIL"-J. MARSHALL, M.R.C.S., &c., 143, Grange Road, Bermondsey, S.E. Any Chemist can supply it.-A. S. Watson & Co. (Ltd), agents in Hongkong and China.~[Advt.
