FUREKA! likewise "dear me." The organ of the missionaries has made a discovery and taken out a patent for infallible prophecy. Mr. J. M. Forbes, of the China Sugar Refinery, is the happy passessor of a ewe-2 ewe lamb that he reckons amongst the most valued of his earthly treasures. And now our religious contemporary

tells us, and glories in the fact, that M. J. M. has been and gene and done it, Forbes's pet knocking all previous "lambing records" into smithereens by giving birth on Thursday to five lambs-all at one time. This ought to entitle James to the Belilios medal, and we recommend this suggestion to the consideration of the Taus tres al that coveted dininction. The birth of these five little ban-boos, says the China Mail

oracle, "according to all old rules of reading auguries. ought to be regarded as a promise of prolific and prosperous vear." No doubt five at one time is good fishing. And now, "Bawnie," tell us something startling ab the Pokfulum pump, and the sensational turnip lately grown at Kowloon,

Mr. E. L Woodin has a pair of Derby griffins that gallop in good form-a brown and a grey. I prefer the grey, although the brown is said to have won a capital trial in Shanghai. This gentleman's subscription griffins were in capital form, and are likely enough to be great favorites later on.

Mr Chantrey Inchbald's chesnut cantered three the 40out 12th and 3-5, finishing very strong, the pace was far slow to enable one to form any opinion as to the pony's real merits. Most of the other "mokes" on the track were restrized, to "quarters, or slow ex zcise, which I need not take the trouble to detail.

I am told that Mr. Diese Brandi was errefully watching operations, outside the fence enclosing the Jockey Clubencin ure. That is exactly where he ought to be, and I must applaud his disc ellon, in quietly recovnising his 'prstion, it is sej annoying to hire to resort to extreme measures.
