UNTIL it has been definitely decided whether or not the Hongkang Hotel Company will appeal, or apply for a new trial in the sensational "Barmaid" case which for the past two days has occupied the attention of Chief Justice Russell and a special Jury in the Supreme Court, It would be highly improper to criticize the pro ceedings and the decision arrived at; but as soon as that knotty point has been settled we will venture to say a few words in the interests of justice on a matter which is certainly of very great public Importance.
Criminal Court, London, application was made by M. Besley that the decision on review in the St. Stephen's Review libel case should be made a record of the Court. Mr. A.Read (clerk of the Arraigns) said he had received officially a copy of the judgment, and it would, as a matter of course, appear in the records.
