DEATH.

WITH reference to the death of Mr. H. L. Norris, head-master of the Protestant Collegiate School at Chefoo, reported in our columna a day or two since, it appears that some six weeks ago a Chinese dog rushed into the pupils' dining room, and while Mr. Norris was driving it out, the animal bit him. He took no steps to cauterise the wound till an hour afterwards. It is said that hydrophobia was developed at 8 am. on the morning of the 27th September, and he died Tat 2 o'clock in the afternoon of the same day. Mr. Murray has left Shanghai for Chefoo to take charge of the school. None of the pupils were bitten by the dog.

The course was round a stake-boat, moured off Kajao Creek, only two boats competing, the fascotte and Novelty.
