WASH NORTON'S Company are giving an entirely new programme at the City Hall, and the last state of the entertainment is better than the firs!, The exhibition of "Modern Magic" by Achmed Ali is a long way ahead of his Oriental illusions, and there is a good deal of novelty in some of his tricks. He fairly mystifies everybody when he makes a skull, which is completely surrounded by glass, indicate the number thrown with the dice by any person in the audience, or the description of card drawn, and when "Yorick" cerrectly foretells what will be thrown or drawn he gets a regular encore. The Harveys are still the sweet thing in duplicate that they were, though their specialty is changed. See them give their parody of the conjuring exhibition- it is intensely humorous, By the way, they will take a benefit on Saturday, when they promise even funnier business. The Sun's London cable reports the arrest of Lord Janies Douglas, brother of the Marquis of Queensberry, for sending an indecent photograph and postal card to Miss Mabel Scott, daughter of Lady Scott. He had fallen in love with Mabel two years ago, but his attentions were discouraged and he had been forbidden the house. Then he began to peratcute the girl, who is in her teens, and it was found necessary to invoke judicial aid to suppress him. The girl being a ward in Chancery, Lord James was solemnly warned, and his fiends sent him off on a yachting trip to the Mediterranean.
