The translations of the official Peking Goettle that appear in our paper and in the North-China Daily News of Shanghai, scarcely, we think, meet with the attention they deserve,-
for the Formosa Trading Corporation, for the mail and passenger service between the island of Formosa, Shanghai, and Tientsin. The dimensions of the vessels are Length 250 feet breadth, 34 feet, depth, 19 feet The vessel is built to the highest class at Lloyd's, with deck house of great strength for the accommodation of passengers from the after-end of forecastle to the stern. Over this house is a shade deck, extending the full width of the ship, and of the pame length as the house. Forward of engine and boiler space in the large deck-house before mentioned is a handsome saloon for 16 first class European passengers, together with the necessary state-rooms, lavatory arrangements, &c. This saloon will be handsomely fitted in carved oak framing and Hungarian ash panels, and with a handsome plano, in oak caşc to match the framing. On each side of the engine and boiler hatches are the officers' and engineers' cabins, and three cooks' galleys, &p Abaft the engine-room, also in this house, is the accommodation for first-class Chinese passengers. This saloon will be elegantly decorate), with state rooms at the sides. A large cabin aft | fitted, to be used as a ladies' cabin, or for the use the Governor of the Province. On the shade deck forward are the chart-house, wheel house, 1st engineer's, fst officer's, and captain's cabin, At the after end of the shade deck is a large music saloon, forming the entrance companion to the Chinese first Ciss cabins. This saloon will be handsomely fitted, and supplied, with an organ for the use of the Chinese. In the Sween' decks forward is accommodation for Chinese second class passengers, and in the tween decks abat the engine room for third-class Chinese. The vessel will be lighted throughout by the electric light, including mast-head, sidelights, carge lamps, &c., supplied by the Woodside Elccale Light Company of Glasgow. The yeast has steam windlass and steam winch by Messrs. Clarke, Chapman, Parsons, and 4.6 and also steam steering gear. The sleamer will be driven by two sets of triple expansion engines, having all the latest improvements, including Marshall's valve gear, &c. There will be two multi-tubular double-ended boilers, which will be affed with forced draught, and worked at a pressure of 100 lbs, a high rate of speed being anticipated.
