LONDON, October toth. It appears that Sir Evelyn Wood, command- ing the Egyptian Army, in reply to inquiries from the Government, has declared himself favourable to the early withdrawal of the bulk of the British Army in Egypt, and has expressed his willingness to be answerable for the preser- vation of order by the native troops under his, command.
LONDON, October th Intelligence is to hand of a conflict having taken place between Roumanian and Austrian troops. A body of Roumanian soldiers seized the Austrian bartacks on the frontier; but a strong force of Austrians was despatched to the. scene, and they recaptured the barracks, besides making to of the Roumanian soldiers prisoners. Mr. Alexander M'Arthur, M.P. for Leicester, and a partner in the firm of W. and A. M'Arthur, met with a serious accident while out shooting and sustained injuries of such a nature that it is feared he will lose one of his eyes. j^k.....
