The French steamship Mensaleh reports left Yokohama on the 27th uitimo." Had strong N.E. monsoon down.
The British steamship Cambodia reports from Shanghai, and Foochow on the 1st instant. Had strong N.E. monsoon all the way.
The British steamship Chi-yuen reports left Singapore on the 25th ultimo. First part of voy- age had light winds and fine weather latter part strong N.E. gale and high sea.
The British steamship Breconshire repons left Singapore on the 25th ultimo. The first and second days out had light N.E. wind; afterwards very rough weather. On the 30th at noon in lat. 16.24 N, and long. 114.7 E., wind North, gradually veering round to West; kept steady at West for about hours, and blew with terrific force. From 8 to p.m. nearly calm, centre of typhoon, and then came down with terrific force- from the SE., attended with high sea, and con. tinued rough till 'arrived in port on the and instant at 9 a.m.
The-British-steamship Canton_reports left Cape St. James at 4 am on the 28th ultimo. Had strong monsoon and fine weather to Cape Padaran; from thence to lat. 16 N. had fresh Northerly winds and high increasing head sea. At 8 p.m. had very heavy sea, and slowed en- gines. Wind hauling W. and Southward, and blowing hard. At midnight barometer 29.69, wind S.W, went full speed ahead and ran to the N.N.E. and then North. At 4 am. on the 31st wind S.S.E, blowing a steady gale and sea run. ning in all directions. At 8 a.m. wind East and blowing and raining, with terrific squalis. At 3 p.m. steady N.E. gale and very high sca, which continued till making Ladrones at 8 p.m. on the 1st inst. On the night of the 21st, while going to Saigon, experienced a heavy typhoon in which the ship lay perfectly helpless la the trough of the sea.
