It sometimes happens that a medical man is not always handy when a person is suddenly taken ill, and, to their shame be it said, it has recently, occurred here that more than one member of the medical profession has absolutely refused to attend cases of sudden illness when called upon to do their duty, which appears to us to be a sacred trust. The article which we produce is not a strictly scientific one, and was written for the benefit_of_the_people who, for various reasons, might not be able to procure immediate medical assist, ance when suddenly attacked with cholera, Professor KIRK says:-
Some patients have lately expressed their surprise that the usual remedy that is so successful in curing looseness in the bowels has signally failed in curing that trouble in their recent experience. The remedy, as our regular readers should know, is repeated injections of cold water used after every loose motion of the bowels. It is an improvement if a drop or two of strong acetic acid is mixed with this cold water. If a patient is attacked with or dinary "bowel complaint," as it is called, and can take an Injection of cold water, with two drops or so of strong acetic acid,. the "complaint usually ceases at once.
