Commercial.

THIS DAY,

4 o'clock p.m. Share business is still exceedingly quiet, the sensational proceedings of the past few weeks having apparently taken all the steam out of "time" specula-

tors.

Banks have changed hands' this | morning for cash at 180 per cent, prem- ium; and further shares might possibly be obtained at that figure. Transfers in Yangisze, Insurance stock have been re- ported at taels 960, and there are further buyers at that rate, China Fires have been negociated at 354, which is a slight re duction on previous rate, but the trans- actions have only been of minor importance. A few China Sugar shares have been sold Other quotations remain un- at .184. changed.
