PEORIA (II.), March 16th.
In an interview with Pat Crowther of this city, he professed great exultation at the attempt to blow up the governmert building in, London, but was not in favor of the means employed. He prefers the silent, but destructive flame of the torch to the detonation of dynamite. His idea is to place two or three hundred men in the larger cities of England with a few barrels of petroleum,

The shipping season may be considered fairly open new, and though the first arrivals had hard time of it, still no serious accidents have occurred, which is principally due to the prompt and energetic action of the local harbour autho- rities, especially to the personal exertions of the Harbour Master and his Boat Officer, in berthing vessels properly besides giving timely warning of approaching ice. Their local experience has been of great utility to the shipping; how they managed dat all to fight their battle through the ice, without a powerful steam launch, for the purpose of letting the vessels have the benefit of their advice and valuable assistance, was sometimes a regular marvel; native sampana sticking frequently in able to reach the ice for hours, without the shore or ships. Rossa showed the following dispatch from Boston: "I congratulate you on the news from London this morning. I can collect money now in Boston. John D. Driscoll." Rossa said he had received to day offers of money, and he can obtain all that is needed. In answer to a ques tion as to what would next be done, he showed a letter advising him to publish in his paperin declaration of war on England, signed by represen- tative Irishinen. When that was done, it could not be claimed that their actions were dishonor- able. As for weapons, all available ones should be used, "This," he said, "1 is my answer."
Patrick J. Sheridan, whose extradition to Eng- land has been requested, said the work is that of Irishmen, and is but the advance picket. Much more will follow, England will shortly see, she must either free Ireland or suffer the conse- quences.
CHICAGO, March 16th. Hon. John F. Finnerty, Congressman-elect from the Third Illinois District, being interviewed regarding the attempt to blow up the Govern- ment building in London, said: "I may say I am sorry it was not more successful. I applaud the Irish in everything they do to get rid of England and her accursed rule. England' brought this, on herself, and Gladstone, more than any one else, has himself to thank for it.
