I refer to the practice which some persons, are adepts at of circulating false reports, well know ing such reports to be false, for interested motives, concerning ponies that are favorites for certain races. To make myself thoroughly understood, I had better explain that I am joint owner of the griffin Highland Fling, a prominent favorite for The Hongkong Derby. This pony za was plaitly stated in these columns at the time, met with Bevere accident three weeks ago a bad strain of the fetlock joint which kept him in his stable for some nine or ten days. On recovering from the effects of this strain, the pony was trotted for several days, and on Saturday last he was cantered at something less than half speed for one mile. This happened between 9 and 10 o'clock in the morning, and two or three hours later a report was current in the colony ontheauthority of Messrs. Reynell and Hutchings the well-known Shangbal gentlemen riders, that Highland Fling had galloped the Derby course in 3 minutes 22 seconds-in some quarters 3-17 The Chinese Consul-General at San Francisco and in others 3.20 was given as the time,, I am

The proprietor, offers the Wash to the public entirely confident that by its restorativé,prou perties it will without fait arrest decaying hair. It completely eradicates scurf dandruff, and cures all diseases of the scalp. It does not contain any poisonous drugs.
