THIS DAY.

Noon.

Banks have been made the medium of very extensive investments since we last wrote, and the stock has become firmer than ever. Late yesterday afternoon a lot of business was done at 183, 185, and 186 per cent. premium for the end of February, buyers eventually ruling the market. The movement was continued with renewed vigour this morning, and at 183 for cash, 185 for the end of the month and 187 for February a great number of shares changed ownership. When our report left, the scrip was still in strong demand. Business has been done in China Traders' stock at 1,500 and 1,610, closing firm at the latter figure. Hongkong Fires have slightly improved their position, being in quired after at 1130-an advance of 5 on former quotation. Docks are in rather better odour to-day with cash buyers at 52 per cent. premium. A few China Sugars' have been sold at 200 per share. Luzons are still wanted at 113.

4 o'clock p.m. No further share transactions have been reported since the issue of our morning report.
