A MAIL WILL CLOSE
For Nagasaki and Yokohama.-Per Sumaira, to-morrow, the 29th instant, nt 11,30 A.M.
· For Shanghai.—Per Pojang, to-morrow, 'the 29th instant, at 1,30 PM, **

For Manila-Per Appin, to-morrow, the a9th
For Straits and Cilcinta-Per Coniston, on Saturday, the 30th instant, at 2.30 г.M.
For Swalow, Amoy, & Foochow.-Per Namon, on Saturday, the sath instant, at 5 P.M.
For Nagasaki and Kobe-Per Niigata Maru, on Friday, the 5th January, at 3.30 F..
4 o'clock p.m. The principal feature on the Stock" Ex- change to-day has been the increased firm- nuss of Banks. Doubtless in order to enable speculators to make an average at the end of the month, a fair amount of cash busi-instant, at 4.30 P.M. fress has been arranged at 164 per cent. premium, and further shares could be placed without difficulty on similar condi- tions. However, as holders do not display any particular anxiety to sell at that rate, it is likely enough that a higher figure will be paid during the course of the afternoon. China Fires have changed hands at 3274, And there are still sellers of the stock at quotation. Docks have been inquired after In several instances, but although the scrip Is on offer at 33 per cent. premium, and might even be procured at a point less, would-be purchasers hold aloof. Hotels are firm at quotation. Further business
has been reported in Luzons at 109' per share for cash, something over a hundred shares having been negotiated at that rate. However, there are still sellers, and the stock may be described as having a down- ward tendency. No other transactions worthy of special reference have come un- der our observation.
