THIS DAY.

Noon, This has been rather, a quiet morning on the Stock Exchange, few transactions of any Importance having taken place. Bank "scrip is still in great demand, and at the Increased rate of 153 percent. premium, a | fair number of cash sales has been booked. On time a few speculative investments have been made at 156 for December 31st, and on these terms further business might be clone, were holders anxious to close. No ready money business in Luzons has been reported, but for the end of next March scrip has nominally changed hands at 116 per share. For cash, shares are on offer at 11. Docks continue weak, but as there are no inquiries made with a view to pur- chase, it is difficult to say accurately the figure at which hoklers would part with their scrip. We therefore leave our quota- tion unaltered. Offers to sell Steamboats -at-30-percent-premuim have not been responded to. Nothing else, worthy of spe. cial mentiun, has conte under our notice.

DEPARTURES.

Banks Steadily continue their upwardana, German bark, for Mantung. march, and it looks almost a certainly that the long agoprophecy that the stock would see 160 per cent, premium before the ond of the year, will soon be realised. Since

we last wrote a number of sales have taken place at 155 for the end of the present month, and there are actually cash buyers at the rate. Business has also been put through at 157 for December, 31st. There have been some inquiries after Hong- kong Fires at the increased rate of

per share; let

no

business

had resulted when our report left, Darks are now offered at 54 for cash, and a few time transactions havg been negotiated at 55 for January 31st. The Indo-China Steam Navigation Com- pany's stuck has been made the medium of a few investments at par. Luzons are rather weaker again, and we shall not be at all surprised, from what we hear, if they again take a downward turn,
