SAYS the Japan Gazette On the 16th of May fast, a mutiny took place on board the Russian brig Saphir, then here in harbour, when fear Japanese sailors were wounded by shots fired by the mate. Proceedings were taken against them in the Yokohama Saibansho, and in September last judgmen was delivered, entencing the principal offender to eight, two others to six years' imprisonment, and those implicated to pay, jointly, $75 per day for the time the ship was detained through their misconduct. Up to the present, however, no copy of the judgment has been sent either to the owner of the vessel, or to the Russian Consul, although it was read to the former-in Japanese, so that for the pre- sent we are unable to give further particulars. SOME time between Saturday evening and this morning, a robbery was committed in the store of Messrs. Lane, Crawford & Co., Queen's Road, both money and stores being missing. Every thing, it appears, was made secure on Saturday evening when closing up, and this ing, upon opening the store, a window on the west side of the store, which could only be opened from the inside, was found open, marks of feet being discernible on the wall below, terminating in a narrow lane. Suspicion points. strongly to one of the store coolics who has disappeared, and who is believed to have gone to Canton. The presumption is that this. man hid himself in the store at closing time on Saturday evening, and that when every body had gone and he had the store all to himself, he effected the robbery, escaping by the window referred to. Several of the drawers in which money was kept were found forced open. REFERRING to the threatened importation of Chi- nese servants into England Vanity Fair has the. following -
