CLEARANCES AT THE HARBOUR OFFICE.

4 o'clock pin Our return to-day from the Share Market Ts a very meagre one indeed. With the exception of a few small cash transactions in the China Sugar Refining Company's stock at 195, and Luzons at 104, actual business may be said to have been prac- tically-a-dead-letter-The-continued. firmness of Banks at 144 per cent. premium is a noteworthy feature. Buyers. are making continuous inquiries, but no shares have changed hands. There will doubtless be heavy gambling-that is the correct term-in Banks shortly. in anticipation of the issue of the new scrip. Chinese Insurances are slightly weaker than they were a day or two ago, sellers offering to come to terms at 232h without finding customers, Hongkong Fires are on the market at 1975, and possibly a slightly lower offer might be accepted. Docks are in demand at 51 per cent, pre- mium but hulders ask for better terms, and the same may be said about Steamboats which stand at the old figure--52 per share saki and Yoyobama. premium. Nothing else merits specialNovember 3, Canton, British steamer, for Straits

TRA MUSTERS.

Persons who send Musters of Tea through the Post in Tins are requested to have them made Bat or square instead of round, as it is impossible. to pack round tins securely in the mail bag. It believed that the tea will travel more safely in flat tins, which are not so lable as round ones to be bulged in. 4 by 3 by 1 inches is suggested as a good sire. The tins should not have sharp.
