THIS DAY.

a few sales

Noon. Although very few actual transfers have been reported since we last wrote, the Share Market shows a considerable amount of activity. Banks are still all the rage, cash offers of 138 per cent. pre mium not being considered liberal enough to induce hoklers to part with their shares. On time there are plenty buyers, but no sellers, at the rates we quoted yesterday-139 for the end of the present month, and 141 for Nov ember 30th. More fluctuations in Lu- zons hive to tie noted, Falling to maintain its position at 105. have been negotiated in this puzzling medium of investmeni at-103, and sellers at this reduced figure remain masters of the situation.. Docks are on the market at 53 per cent. premiùm, but as buyers offer 52 without securing any scrip the stock may be consblered fairly lirm. Steamboats show increased firmness, holders declining to entertain cash offers of 31 per share premiùm, and we should say the stock has an upward tendency. Business has been transacted in Chinese Insurances at 2.7—a reduction of zon previous quolation--but not to any great extent, a few small lots only having changed hands.

4 o'clock p.m.

Our predictions with regard to Steam-! boats were quickly realised. First at 32 and then at 324 a fair amount of business took place, and although a few more shares might be secures at the last named figure, the stock is now fairly firm at the quotation. Ducks have also been-dabbled in at 521, and latterly at 53. but the transactions were not of great importance, although the serip is in fairly good demand. Banks have also changed hands at 138, and there are more shares offered at the rate. No other stocks require special mention.
