Signor Lagana, of Palenao, in the fourth volume of the Acts of the Maritime Commission of in- quiry, has published an important project for a system of Italian navigation on all the principal maritime lines of the globe. The projected occan lines embrace the Atlantic, the Indian Ocean, and the Pacific; the actual voyages to Singapore are to be increased in number, and prolonged as far as Hongkong and Yokohama. A new line is proposed to Australia, passing Singapore and Batavia, and starting every fortnight from Genoa and Venice altemately. The voyages to Bombay and Calcutta are to be increased in number, with new stations on the coast of India, especially at Madras and Pondicherry..

Captain Rupell G. Sabine Pasley, RN., who succeeds the late Captain Hope in command of the Champion, on the Cluna Station, is a son of Admiral Sir Thomas Sabie Pasley, who was a Bag officer of the Bellerophon in Lord Howe's victory of the 1st June, 1794. Captain Pasley entered the Navy in 1851. He was in 1861 flag Beutenant to Sir Haldwin Walker on the Cape Station, and in 1862 was selected by Rear Ad mial Kingcome to serve as his flag lieutenant in the Sufle on the Pacific Station, where he re- mained until 1864. In the following November he was promoted commander. After serving as an inspector of the Coastguard at Salcombe, Command Pasley was appointed, in 1868, to the command of the Nile on the North American and West Indies Station, where he continued until prometed captain, 1871. His subsequent service has been in command of the troopship Simeon, from 1876 to 1878.
