ALLAHABAD, 12th July. A telegram has been received here, giving, de- tails of the bombardment. The firing on the part of the British dect commenced at 7 o'clock yesterday (Tuesday) morning. The fire was re-intervention in Egypt. turned at once from the shore, but after 20 minutes two batteries were silence. At 10 o'clock Forts Marsa and Kanat were blown up. The lire is now said to be slackening. Many guns in the forts have been dismounted, but there is no sign of surrender on the one hand or o
of damage to the fleet on the other. The fanarch's gatlings are sweeping the shore. At 11 o'clock the forts were gradually silencing. The Ras-et- Tin forts suffered severely from the fire directed upon them by the Maandra, Superb and Temiraire. The other ships engaged in the bombardment were the flexible, the Penelope, and the Monarch. The great tower of Fort Pharos has been demolished.

Mr. Van Duær replied that the time was $50 for cach passenger, which, on the Captain's admis- sien, amounted to a fine of $11,5o. It had been agreed that a judgment for that amount should be entered, that it might becomea lien against the vessel, and an application could be made to the Secretary of the Treasury for the remission of the 103 passengers, the difference between 326 excess charged and 223 admitted. He also waived any right of action in the difference of the passengers ad accepted the plea of guilty,

LONDON, July 13th. Arabi has withdrawn the Egyptian army which was at Alexandrit into the interior. It is un.ærnding. known where the Khedire is. Alexandria is in flames. The entire European quater of the city is destroyed and a hundred Europeans have been massacred; others fought their way to the beach, where they were rescued by ships' boats.
To the reporter Mr. Van Buzer stated that there is a dispute as to the measurement of the Strathairly as ascertained by Henry Hocber, the Custom house measurer, and by the consular certificate granted to Captain Farwick at Hong kong. To get on the safe side of the case and save the Government the expenses of a trial, the plea before mentioned was accepted. Section Achriral Seymour sensed the request 105294 of the Revised Statutes, however, permits negotiate wait the harbour forts have surrendered, Arabi refused these conditions. Hostilities have not yet recommence. The Khedive is safe.
The Duke of Connaught has volunteered for Egypt. He will probably command a brigade.

The Secretary to the Admiralty, in reply to Sir Staffind Northcote in the House of Commons, said that Admiral Seymour had been instructed 10-day. not to dismantle the forts, or disable the guns, but to endeavour to open communications with the Khedive and invite him to restore order in concert with Dervish Pasha; at the same time landing a party of men for police purposes and inviting European ships to co-operate.

LONDON, July 4th, Evening. The news which was current throughout the press that the Arabs were looting the steamer Glenton is utterly false.

The Secretary to the Admiralty, in reply to a question in the Commons, said that gunboats are authorized to escort vessels through the Canal.
Lloyds state that the traffic through the Canal is stopped.
The Bluejackets occupy the city gates and are ordered to shoot any marauders.

British war vessels are stationed at the en- trance of the Suez Canal, ready to advance at a moment's notice, should occasion arise.
The Germans, Americans, and Russians are assisting Admiral Seymour to restore order; the French and Italian Admirals, however, refuse to disembark any men or render any assistance.
The conflagration is dying out and looting has ceased.
Rumours are current that disturbances have broken out in Cairo.
