We have received a piíntal notice, signed by Mr. R. G. Alford for the subscribers, stating that the Govemment bad kindly promised a free grant of land for the erection of the proposed church at the Peak, and that it is thought the time had now arrived when the scheme, should be carried for- ward. A general meeting of subscribers and others interested is to be held at The Arms" Victoria Peak, to-morrow afternoon at five o'clock, at which it is proposed that trosiers shall be chosen to confer with the Guvernment as to the site, and to carry out the plan to be selected. Rules for the general management of the church will be brought forward for approval, and an at- tempt made at once to raise the balance of the money required. The notice concludes with an invitation to all Peak residents and visitors to attend the meeting. A copy of the rules to be proposed for a loption has also been sent to us. They are as follows :---
