Commercial.

THIS DAY, FOUR P.M. Since we last wrote Banks have been

made the medium of a fair amount of substantial business at 120 per cent. pre- mium, and a general demand still exists for a further quantity of shares at the same rate. Holers, however, show no inclina- tion to sell, and we should therefore not bu at all surprised to see a still higher price paid. A few sales of Hongkong Fires have been reported at 925. Docks are still weak with sellers at 52, and possibly a point under that quotation might be accepted. Inquiries after Hotels at annexed rate have failed to lead to basi ness, and there are buyers--but no sellers -of Steamboats at 27 per share premium for cash, and 28 for the end of the month. A slightly higher.cash rate would, we think, be paid, if holders evinced any de- sire to sell. The scrip of both the Sugar Refining Companies are fairly firm at an- resed quotations,
