The S. S. Hae Son which we alluded to in our last issue as having been condemned, is now being broken up at Shanghai. The C, M. S. N. Co. is evidently a paying line to be able to dis cant such a favourite vessel out of which, we understand, another three years work could have been had without risk of loss through unsea- worthiness.

Livingston & Co.'s Compradore's nephew whilst on his way up country with the large sum of sixteen thousand dollars, was robbed of the same Captain Talbot, will be despatched for the above in the Chieng Lok district which was only a short distance from its destination. It is repustedt, TO-MORROW, the Jih instant, at Fuuk
that he was killes, The Mandarins are taking active measures to bring the perpetrators of this depredation to justice.
It appears from statistics that the tea-competi- tion between India and China is increasing, and rather to the detriment of the latter Country. The imports of the United Kingdom during the past four years from the former Country were in- Creased by twenty and a half million pounds, whitst during the same period, that imported from China, was decreased by Nine Million pounds. The exportation of Indian teas to the United States appears to have increased propionately.
Hanlly a week now passes without having to record same extensive fire having taken place in the vicinity of Foochow. On Friday last the arst inst, a conflagration was observable at about ten o'clock at night, in the same direction as where the last fire occurred. We learn that the damage occasioned in the present instance was even greater than that at the previous fire, al-' though no lives are reported as lost. The fire. which raged fearfully until considerably past midnight, was allowed by the Chinese to burn itself dat, no adequate means being adopted for ils suppression,-Herald.
SHANGHAI RACES
(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT) Bly Telegraphi.
Shanghai, 12th May, 1882.
The weather was again fine to-day, and the sport first class. Picaroon opened the hall success fully for Mr. Fungus, winning the Chu-ka-za Cup in capital style. The winner of the Griffins, Montezuma, won the Derby very cleverly, and the Ladies Purse fell to Lothair after an exciting race. Driving Cloud, in the absense of the cracks. proved a good thing for the two miles Race Chub Cup, and then the excitement rose to a high pitch when Prejudice came out to do battle with Wild Dash and Tajmahal, the first and second in the Cathay Cup. Prejudice was of course made favorite, but good judges fancied Wild Dash, and although both Tajmahal and Prejudice stuck gamely to the big pony, he held them safe a long way from home, and eventually won cleverly in 2.34-the fastest time on record-Tajmahal finishing a good second. Foxhound cleverly fol- lowed up his yesterday's success in the Racing Stakes by landing the valuable Concordia Cup, an then "Sammy" Walker had a well de served turn with Castigator in the Tsallec Cup. Gang Forward's splendid speed "landed" him home in the Spring Cup, and a good day's racing was brought to a conclusion by Kialto's victory | in the Roadster's Plate.

Mr. Moor begs to recommend his GOGO SHAMPOO WASH
to the public as unrivalled by any prepara tion ever produced for promoting the growth of the hair. The basis of this compound is made of soap root; the natives of the Philip pine Islands never use anything else for washing their hair; they are never found bald, and it is quite common to see the females with hair from
5 to 6 feet long. By constantly using this Shampoo Wash as directed, you will NEVER BE BALD. The proprietor offers, the Wash to the public entirely confident that by its restorative pro- pertics it will without fail arrest decaying hair. It completely eradicates scurf, dandruff, and cures all diseases of the scalp. It does not contain any poisonous drugs. By its cooling properties it allays the itching and fever of the scalp, which is the great cause of people losing their hair.
Mr. MOORE has succeeded in being able to put this wash up in bottles without allowing it to ferment, and he will guarantee it to keep any length of time in any climate.
