CONSECRATION OF UNITED SER- VICE CHAPTER (No6. 1341) OR ROYAL ARCH FREEMASONS.

The interesting ceremony of consecrating the new chapter of Royal Arch Freemasons, lately established in connection with United service Lodge, No. 1341, was performed on saturday evening by Past Most Excellent Companion Cat- chick Pand Chater, the senior P.M.E.Z. of soutli China, who was assisted by P.M.E.Z. Morris acting as H: MEZ, W.-M. IL. Arthur as MEZ J. T. Chater as scribe R; and Comp. J. Parker as Director of Ceremonies. It is rather singular that neither of the old estabs lished chapters in the colony have gone through the ceremonial of consceration, and that the initutive should have been left to that Lately formed under the auspices of the United service Lodge; however, there can be little doubt that the example of the new institu- tion will be quickly followed by the Zetland and

Victoria.

Proceedings opened on Saturday night with the opening of the Chapter in due and ancient form, and after the charter from the Grand Lodge of England, signed by H.R.II, the Prince of Wales, had been read, the ceremony of constern-

Lion was perfur.ued in a mast impressive manner, The following officers were then formally invested with their rubes and badges of office for the casuing year :-
