Commercial.
THIS DAY, FOUR P.. Banks are rather firmer to-day although no cash sales have come under our obser- vation. Some time business has been hooked for the end of the month at 113, and also at a slightly, advanced rate for March 31st.
Canton Insurances are still inclined to be unsteady, sellers offering to deal at 87 per share without finding cus- tomers, and we think that a firm offer of 85 would be accepted in certain quarters. Hongkong Fires are in demand at 900 per share, ex div.; but holders decline to sell on these terms. A few small lots of China | Fires have changed hands at 292, and at a similar rate there still exists a demand for the stock in limited quantities. At 55 per cent. premium, Docks have again been rather extensively dealt in for cash, and a large number of time transactions at 56 for the end of the present month, and 57 for the end of April, have been negotiated. Both Sugars and Steamboats remain at annexed nominal quotations, neither stock having been inquired after since we last wrote; but Hotels are in increased request at 1024, holder's refusing to sell at that rate. No other business has been reported. SHAPES
