Commercial.
THIS DAY, FOUR P.M.
There is still nothing of importance to report from the share market. Most of the stocks show a slight depreciation as compared with previous quotations, but as no actual, business has been transacted, the few changes hardly deserve special comment.. Banks are on offer at 112 per cent, premium, ex div., but not, we think, to any great extent, in fact any movement on the part of buyers would at once send the stock to a higher rate. Buyers offer 49 per cent. premium for Decks without obtaining any shares, although a few small lots are offered at 50. Steamboats would be sokl if 24 per share premium were of fered; but holders decline to come to terms at 23, this last rate having been ten- dered in several instances-without-leading to any definite result.
Sugars stand at
170, with sellers, but this quotation, like
all the others to which we have not spe-
cially alluded, is merely of a nominal
character.

The attention of boxholders is called to the necessity of carefully sealing such boxes with some recognisable seal, and of sending a chit- book or receipt with them. The omission of the latter precaution leaves a doubt as to whether the contents of the box ever reached the Fost Office: the omission of the former, as to whether, part of them might not have been abstracted for the sake of the Postage stamps.
