THIS DAY, FOUR P.M. Stock exchange business since we last wrote has almost entirely been confined to finessing and inquiring. With the excep- tion of the sale of a few bonds of the Chi- nese Imperial Loan of 1881 at the current. rate three per cent. premium-not a -single bond fide transaction has come under our observation. Offers to buy Banks for cash at 119 per cent. premium have been made and refused, although at 120 a few shares could be obtained, and at 121 for the end of the month a still larger number are on the market. Purchasers on time are willing to invest at 120 for the end of the month, and at equivalent rates for the end of March, April, and May; but on these terms holders of shares decline to deal. Hongkong Fires. have made a further improvement, and are firm at 965, at which rate a number of shares could be placed without difficulty. China Fires are nominally, at yesterday's
