the office of this Paper, and will con. tain a Directory for the Ports in the large portion of Asia comprised be- tween Penang, in the Straits Settle- ments, and the Northern Ports, includ ing Formosa; the Treaty Ports of China and Japan; the Philippine Islands; the British Colony of Hongkong; and the Portuguese Colony of Macao. The work will also contain the Principal Treaties between Earopoan countries and the United States and the countries East of the Straits, together with conditions of Trade, and the Port, Customs, CoD- sular and Harbour Regulations for the Ports of China and Japan; and a des cription of the Forts, with the latest Trade Statistics taken from the Reports of the Imperial Maritime Customs and other reliable sources.
The various Governments and Mu- nicipal Corporations will be applied to for information, and all Public Bodies
and Companies, Bankers, Merchants, Consuls, and Professional and other
