Banks, which was sufficiently well maintained this morning to send up the stock to 110 premium, and even at this rate a good many transactions of importance were booked. Docks, on the other hand, took a down- ward turn, and shares which a week ago were firm at 60 are now freely offered at 59 without finding buyers. Hotel
are, as we anticipated, much weaker, and although sellers ask for 115, we think they could be per- suaded to take a lower quotation. The China Sugar Refining Com- pany's Shares hold the same un- satisfactory position in the Market, and there are no indications of a change for the better. The shares are offered at $170 each; but this is merely a nominal quotation, as no business is likely to result unless at a greatly reduced rate. We heard of a small lot of Steam-boats that had changed hands at 31 for the end of the month, on the strength of a rumour that the report for the last half year was an extraordinarily favorable one, and we are prepared to find this stock the medium of
