letter addressed by Sir J. Hornby,
The Chief Judge of The Supreme Consular
Court
for China and Japan to Her Majesty's Minister in Japan, by which Your Lordship will perceive that in the opinion of the former this Colony

is entitled to claim reimbursement
of the expenses incurred rather from The Home Government than from the Legation in Japan
as
proposed by M. Austin in his capacity
of Acting
Consular Auditor.
Under the circumstances I
trust that Your Lordship will take
the necessary steps to cause
payment
in reimbursement of the advance
made
by
the
Colony.
