My Lord,
I have the honor to request your Lordship will be good enough to inform me whether the Post of Surveyor General to the Colony of Hong Kong is likely to be vacant, or soon to become so.
Should such be the case, and the Office still remain open, I have the honor further to request you will also be good enough to note this my application for the appointment.
I have had four years' professional experience in the Colony as a Partner in an Architectural and Civil Engineering practice; and
