I have the honor to report that I saw this day carefully examined M. G. H. Goodlake of the Hong Kong Civil Service
Mr Goodlake arrived in the Colony about two and a half years ago and enjoyed good health until October 1868, when he was seized with dysentery, but not seriously, and rheumatism.
Soon afterwards he became ill of intermittent Fever, which recurred so often as to injure the general health, and render a trip to Europe necessary. Mr. Goodlake is now in a state of nervous depression, with such general debility; and I recommend that he be allowed leave for six months, for the recovery of his health.
