I think a simple acknowledgment is all that is necessary,

I take it that I Caldwell had not (as stated in the paper) watched the cave for the prosecution, but that he attended
the inquest preparation; policeman attend a trial, where the information
upon which the proceedings are based, has been made to her.
It appears that in the present case the information was given by Wold (Caldwell.
