With reference to Mr Hammond's letter of the 16th Ultimo,
"I am directed by the Secretary
of State for Foreign Affairs to

of Earl Granville the accompanying copy of a despatch which has been received from "Her Majesty's Chargé d'affaires at Pekin, reporting a conversation
which he has had with Sr Valdevallano, consignee of the Italian vessel "Frederic", now
engaged
in the Coolie traffic between Hong Kong
and Callao.
